Morgan Engineering
Supporting the evolution of a regional B2B business into a large-scale industrial leader

When The Marketing GP first started working with Morgan Engineering in 2021, the business was already a highly respected name in engineering, fabrication, CNC machining and on-site machining.

Headquartered in Singleton and operating since 1975, Morgan Engineering had built its reputation on technical capability, fast turnarounds and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges for mining, manufacturing and heavy industry clients.

But like many established regional businesses, its marketing had not kept pace with the business itself.

Morgan Engineering was no longer just a local engineering workshop. It was growing in capability, investing in systems, expanding its facilities, developing new service areas and building a stronger internal culture.

The business had a powerful story to tell, but it needed a clearer, more strategic way to tell it.

That is where The Marketing GP came in.

Our partnership began with a marketing strategy. From there, we helped Morgan Engineering translate that strategy into action through a major website redevelopment, brand refresh activity, ongoing retainer support, annual planning, content, campaigns, case studies, awards, email marketing, SEO, Google Ads, PR, capability collateral, sales enablement, brand storytelling and more.

Over time, the work evolved from foundational marketing support into a long-term strategic partnership that has supported Morgan Engineering through a significant period of growth.

Today, Morgan Engineering is a large-scale integrated engineering and industrial services provider that has significantly expanded its workforce, tripled its revenue over a three-year period and continues to invest in apprenticeships, regional capability and long-term growth.

"Working with Morgan Engineering has been one of those partnerships that reminds you what great marketing is really built on."
- Holly Martin, Managing Director, The Marketing GP

The Situation

When Morgan Engineering engaged The Marketing GP, the business had already achieved strong operational momentum.

It had grown from a small engineering shop into one of the most extensive engineering operations in the Hunter Valley. It had invested in a standalone line boring facility, implemented an ERP system, expanded its team, introduced new roles and continued to strengthen its capability across engineering, CAD drafting, large-capacity CNC machining, on-site machining and heavy fabrication.

Internally, the business was becoming more structured, more sophisticated and more ambitious.

Externally, however, there was an opportunity to bring greater clarity and consistency to how Morgan Engineering presented itself.

The business needed marketing that could reflect its technical capability, support future growth, communicate its point of difference and position Morgan Engineering as a modern, innovative and trusted engineering partner.

The first step was strategy.

The Plan

At the start of the engagement, The Marketing GP developed a comprehensive marketing strategy for Morgan Engineering to identify where the B2B business should focus its marketing activity and how its external presence could better support its commercial goals.

The strategy helped define key focus areas, including brand positioning, website performance, service communication, digital visibility, lead generation, case studies, email marketing, awards, recruitment, culture and stakeholder engagement.

Importantly, the strategy became the reference point for the ongoing retainer, ensuring each activity was connected to a broader commercial or communication objective rather than delivered in isolation.

Rather than taking an ad hoc approach to marketing, the strategy created a practical structure for ongoing activity. It allowed Morgan Engineering and The Marketing GP to prioritise what mattered most, align marketing with business goals and roll activity out in a staged and intentional way.

From the outset, the focus was integration. Every activity needed to work together: from the website and social media through to awards, PR, collateral, EDMs and business development tools.

Each year, The Marketing GP and Morgan Engineering returned to this strategic foundation through annual planning sessions. These meetings helped review what had changed in the business, identify new priorities and shape the next 12 months of activity.

This meant the marketing could evolve with the business, rather than being locked into a static plan.

Website, SEO and digital foundations

One of the first major projects delivered by The Marketing GP was a significant redevelopment of the Morgan Engineering website.

The existing website was outdated and no longer reflected the scale, professionalism or capability of the business. It also needed to better support search visibility, user experience and future marketing activity.

The Marketing GP completed a full website audit, developed a new sitemap, reviewed content, improved SEO structure, refined page titles and meta descriptions, and wrote copy that better explained Morgan Engineering’s services, capability and point of difference.

The new website was designed to be more modern, mobile optimised, engaging and easier for users to navigate. It also gave Morgan Engineering a stronger platform for future campaigns, lead generation, recruitment activity and content marketing.

Following launch, the website saw an immediate uplift in performance, including a 70% increase in users, 78% increase in sessions and 67% increase in page views.

Since GA4 reporting was introduced in 2023, Morgan Engineering’s website has continued to show steady year-on-year growth. In the first full-year GA4 comparison, active users increased by approximately 18%, while page views increased by approximately 5%.

The channel mix also strengthened, with direct traffic increasing by approximately 42%, email traffic increasing by approximately 51% and organic social traffic increasing by approximately 47%. This showed the website was not only attracting more users, but also being supported by a broader and more effective marketing ecosystem.

In the most recent reporting period, growth continued, with active users increasing by approximately 24% and page views increasing by approximately 15%. Direct traffic also increased significantly, reflecting broader brand awareness and stronger market recognition, while organic search remained one of the website’s strongest traffic channels.

Beyond the original redevelopment, the website has continued to evolve with the business. This has included ongoing SEO improvements, content updates, new pages, service refinements, careers content, awards content, community impact content, parts pages, service exchange pages, a dedicated history page and a digital catalogue with search functionality.

In 2025, the website underwent a broader AEO/GEO and content overhaul across every page to improve visibility, strengthen keyword alignment and better reflect how users now search for information.

More importantly, the website has become a stronger digital representation of who Morgan Engineering is today: a growing, highly capable industrial business with the systems, services, people and expertise to support complex client needs.

Brand consistency and marketing assets

Alongside the website, we built a more consistent and professional brand presence across its day-to-day marketing materials.

This included developing a suite of branded assets such as social media tiles, banners, business cards, notepads, an honour board, tender cover letter and letterhead templates, PowerPoint templates and other practical collateral.

These assets helped ensure Morgan Engineering was presenting itself consistently across internal documents, client-facing material, events, tenders, social media and business development activity.

As the business continued to grow, this brand consistency became even more important. Morgan Engineering was communicating with more clients, more prospective employees, more industry partners and more stakeholders. The brand needed to feel professional, recognisable and aligned wherever it appeared.

Content, case studies and capability storytelling

A major part of The Marketing GP’s role has been helping Morgan Engineering explain its capability clearly and consistently. Morgan Engineering operates in a technical industry, where the value of the work is often best understood through proof, context and practical examples. The Marketing GP helped translate that technical expertise into content that could be understood by clients, prospective employees, award judges, media and industry stakeholders.

This included the development of service-led website content, project storytelling, capability messaging, technical copy, award content, editorial, social media content and business development collateral.

Rather than focusing only on what Morgan Engineering does, the content communicated how the business works, why its approach matters and what sets it apart in a highly specialised market.

As the business grew, this storytelling became increasingly important. Morgan Engineering needed to communicate a broader and more sophisticated offer, including its integrated service model, operational scale, workforce capability, safety focus, regional contribution and commitment to innovation.

The objective was always to make sure Morgan Engineering had the right language and marketing assets to support the conversations it was already having in the market. Rather than relying on broad claims, the content helped Morgan Engineering show evidence of its expertise, strengthen trust and position the business as a fast, reliable and safe engineering partner.

CRM & EDMs

Email marketing became an important part of Morgan Engineering’s ongoing marketing strategy, particularly in supporting regular communication around key service areas and business updates.

The Marketing GP developed a more structured EDM approach, including campaign planning, content development, database segmentation, email health checks, performance review and ongoing optimisation.

This improved the consistency and quality of Morgan Engineering’s email communications, while strengthening delivery rates, open rates, click-through rates and overall engagement over time.

We also supported Morgan Engineering with HubSpot implementation and optimisation, including forms, lists, lead capture, EDMs and foundational marketing activity.

As the business matured, we developed a HubSpot strategy to help Morgan Engineering use the platform in a more integrated and strategic way. This provided a clearer roadmap for improving efficiency, visibility and marketing performance as the organisation continued to grow.

Social media and digital visibility

The Marketing GP moved Morgan Engineering from ad hoc social media activity to a more structured and purposeful approach. We developed a clear social media strategy supported by content pillars, ensuring every post had a purpose and audience in mind. This helped create a regular content calendar and provided a framework for sharing project updates, team stories, award recognition, community involvement, recruitment messages, technical capability and business milestones.

The strategy saw the audience grow across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn over several years. This included significant increases across all three platforms, with LinkedIn becoming an increasingly important channel for industry credibility, recruitment and business visibility.

As Morgan Engineering’s internal capability grew, The Marketing GP supported the transition of social media management to its internal marketing coordinator. This enabled the business to maintain a more immediate and authentic voice on its platforms, while The Marketing GP continued to provide broader strategic guidance and specialist support.

Award recognition

Awards and PR became a strong focus of the partnership because Morgan Engineering had a compelling story to tell. We have led and supported award submissions across multiple years and categories, helping Morgan Engineering articulate its growth, technical innovation, workforce development, safety culture, community contribution, leadership and manufacturing capability.

The outcomes included multiple wins, finalist placements and highly commended recognitions across business, manufacturing, safety, training, diversity, leadership, contribution to the region and project-based categories.

The Marketing GP also supported PR activity to amplify these achievements and strengthen Morgan Engineering’s industry presence. This included media releases, editorial support and features across outlets and publications such as AMTIL, NOVO News, Hunter Headline, The Herald, NBN, Power FM, Singleton Argus, Coal Face, The Australian Mining Review, The Hunter River Times and local radio.

Employer brand

Morgan Engineering already had a strong internal culture, but there was an opportunity to make that culture more visible externally.

As this B2B industrial business grew, recruitment and workforce development became increasingly important. The Marketing GP helped translate Morgan Engineering’s people-first culture, apprenticeship pathways, leadership development and regional career opportunities into clear external communications that could support attraction, retention and reputation.

This included refreshing careers content, developing employer brand messaging and leading recruitment-focused campaigns designed to drive interest from the right candidates.

We also positioned Morgan Engineering as an employer of choice through award submissions, PR, social media, website content and recruitment collateral, ensuring the business was not only communicating what it does, but what it is like to work there.

This work helped give prospective employees a clearer understanding of Morgan Engineering’s culture, career pathways and long-term investment in its people, while reinforcing the business’s reputation as a regional employer with genuine opportunities for growth.

Marketing coaching and mentoring

As Morgan Engineering continued to grow, the business was able to support an existing team member who wanted to broaden their skillset and move into a Marketing Coordinator role. Rather than treating this as a handover point, The Marketing GP worked alongside Morgan Engineering to help build the internal marketing capability needed to support the business’s next stage of growth.

This included coaching, mentoring, process development and practical guidance across key marketing activities, including social media, EDMs, website updates, SEO, Google visibility, content planning and marketing performance.

The focus was on helping Morgan Engineering’s Marketing Coordinator understand not only how to complete marketing tasks, but why they mattered, how they connected back to the broader strategy and how to make informed decisions in day-to-day marketing activity. This approach allowed Morgan Engineering to bring more immediate and operational marketing activity in-house, while continuing to access The Marketing GP’s strategic guidance, specialist support and broader marketing expertise.

For a fast-growing business, this was an important evolution. It gave them greater internal confidence and responsiveness, while ensuring marketing remained aligned, consistent and connected to the long-term plan.

Strategic planning and long-term partnership

The strength of the Morgan Engineering and The Marketing GP relationship has been the consistency of the partnership.

This was not a one-off project or a short campaign.

It was a long-term relationship built around regular communication, strategic planning, practical execution and ongoing adaptation.

Through regular marketing meetings, phone calls, onsite visits, annual planning sessions and open collaboration, we were able to stay close to what was happening inside the business and translate that into relevant marketing activity.

As Morgan Engineering evolved, the marketing plan evolved with it.

The Results

The partnership between Morgan Engineering and The Marketing GP has created a long-term marketing foundation that has grown with the business.

What began as a strategic marketing plan and website redevelopment has evolved into an integrated marketing partnership spanning brand, content, digital, EDMs, PR, awards, employer brand, HubSpot and internal marketing capability.

The result is a more consistent, professional and strategic market presence that better reflects the scale, sophistication and ambition of Morgan Engineering today.

Through this partnership, Morgan Engineering has achieved stronger digital visibility, clearer service communication, improved website performance, more consistent brand presentation, stronger industry recognition, more targeted stakeholder communications and a more visible employer brand.

The work has also told a broader business story. Not just what the business does, but how it has grown, what it contributes, why its people matter and where it is heading next.

Key outcomes included stronger website performance, improved search visibility, more consistent brand presentation, stronger EDM engagement, growing social media audiences, multiple award wins and finalist placements, regular media coverage, a stronger careers presence, a refreshed capability statement, a successful 50th anniversary campaign and the development of internal marketing capability through coaching and mentoring.

Most importantly, Morgan Engineering now has a marketing presence that better reflects the business it has become: a fast-growing, family-owned regional engineering business with national capability, strong values and a clear growth trajectory.
