James Millard is the co-founder of YOLO Financial Services and is carving out a new way of doing things.
The YOLO team believe in challenging people to live the life they desire, rather than just conforming to society’s norms or traditional beliefs.
Despite only launching at the start of 2015, YOLO has already won awards and effectively positioned themselves in a competitive marketplace. Part of that success is due to their name – a bit more quirky in a traditional field! YOLO is a mindset which totally aligns with their approach to money and finance. It’s a little corny but James says that most people love it!
Part of their branding is also about being themselves. So when you see any marketing content for them it is positive, it aligns with the passions and hobbies of the founders and it is true to them, making it completely authentic.
James and the YOLO team are savvy enough to know that they need to be where their target market is. For that reason they have embraced social media completely. They primarily use Facebook, but they are also active on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
The initial benefit was that everyone in their networks knew they had leapt from the constraints of the corporate world and were then interested to follow along and get involved. Now James says they seeing far more people connect and follow, most of whom they haven’t met yet.
James understands that the benefit of social media is it allows you to start conversations in a safe environment.
The first YOLO website was not a resounding success admits James. The problem? They put together the website before they had launched the business and found clarity around their brand. The founders had worked with clients for years, but this was the first time they were bringing together all of their approaches under the one banner.
So the website you see now is a complete overhaul, with a much stronger brand message overall.
With over 10 years in the profession, James’ passion is in showing his clients that their dreams are possible. He helps people to focus on what is important to them and structures their finances in a manner that enables them to be free of financial concern and enjoy life.
With a strong desire to have a bigger impact on his profession and on the clients that he serves, James co-founded YOLO in January 2015.
