Getting Cozy at Work for a Good Cause, The Pyjama Foundation

Reading Time: 3 minutes

It’s not often you will find our team in our onesies, slippers and best PJs in client meetings, but we were doing something special to support The Pyjama Foundation.

The office was awash in fluffy pillows, warm throws and yummy food to help raise awareness and funds for important learning programs for kids in foster care in Australia. We are a passionate bunch who love to give back to our local community, and looking after kids who have already had a challenging start to life was a good fit with our values.

Did you know that every 60 minutes in Australia, two vulnerable children find themselves entering the foster care system? These children have backgrounds of trauma, neglect, and instability, which makes navigating education a whole lot more difficult.

The Pyjama Foundation partners kids with Pyjama Angels who help provide education and learning support in meaningful and unique ways for foster care children. It’s not uncommon for this connection to create lifelong friendships.

The organisation encourages individuals, businesses and communities to jump in their pyjamas for National Pyjama Day each year and we thought why not! There’s nothing like wearing your PJs to work to get the creativity flowing.

Behind-the-scenes work

We are marketers first and foremost – so our team quickly put our skills to use for a good cause to create some fun content for the event.

Our graphic designers and social media gurus created some friendly team content for our social channels. You probably saw some of our PJ-wearing team on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn!

But we didn’t stop there! We went around the local area distributing flyers to invite businesses and our clients to join the celebrations or to donate.

Would you like to donate to the cause too and make a difference in a child’s life?

donate to The Pyjama Foundation!

Let the celebrations begin!

First things first – coffee. The team went across the road for that essential coffee run – in our PJs! We did get some funny looks, but on a cold morning, a coffee run in our PJs was worth the trip.

Next, the food! Thankfully, due to planning beforehand, we had an amazing spread of sweet and savoury dishes for the day. On the menu was potato bake, caramel slice, cupcakes, cheeseburgers, quiches, pumpkin soup, Paella and more!

Our team does love a good reason to gather and eat good food.

The after-party activities

Beyond the morning tea we held, we’ve proactively continued to raise awareness and encouraged support of the charity. We wanted to raise $3,000 for this cause – and we want to thank everyone who donated, family, friends and clients for their incredible generosity.

We are always actively looking for ways to support our community, and this is one of our core values. We support our team members to volunteer their time to support a charity that is close to their heart – and we pay them to do it! And that’s not all, as marketers we always jump at the opportunity to use our skills for good and support local charities spread their message. So this initiative by our Service Line Lead team was in perfect alignment.
