Wondering if it’s time to rebrand your business? Is your brand feeling tired and outdated? Are you struggling with a connection with your logo? Or is your business just not standing out amongst competitors?
We certainly don’t encourage you to regularly rebrand every time you decide you don’t like your logo, or business name or brand colours. After all, branding isn’t as easy as colouring in a picture and sending it on its merry way! But … there are times when a rebrand is necessary.
We should know! We recently rebranded ourselves to celebrate 10 years in business.
This isn’t our first rodeo
If you’ve been a follower, a client or simply a fan of The Marketing GP, you would know we’ve had a pretty interesting brand journey ourselves.
Ten years ago our Chief Marketer, Holly started the business as ‘Just Holly’. And that’s what it was – it was just Holly!
But as more clients joined us, Holly realised she really couldn’t be doing all things herself! As a result, we rebranded under the definition of general practitioners in marketing – The Marketing GP was born.
This was our first major rebrand and a radical shift in who we were, to who we became.
Why we chose to rebrand in 2022
2022 marks the ten-year anniversary of when the business launched. Since 2012, the world and the business have completely changed. We’re no longer interested in galaxy tights; The Hunger Games series is old news; and Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen no longer plays on repeat in our heads (thankfully, but also sorry if it’s now triggered some of the lyrics in your mind).
And just like pop culture trends, marketing trends and strategies have also changed. We’re now deep into the world of automation, omnichannel marketing, and short-form video for platforms like Tik Tok. All of these changes have modernised the marketing game, and while our team and clients are keeping up to date, we knew our business’ brand needed to too.
Like any great business, we sometimes operate like a plumber with a leaky tap. We prioritise our client’s marketing over our own. But for our tenth birthday, we wanted to celebrate and commemorate how far we’ve come. We think ten looks pretty good on us now with our new brand look.
Want a smooth & successful business rebrand to help dazzle your clients & competitors?
If you think it’s time to rebrand your business, book a meeting with Holly or here’s our number, so call us…maybe? (Some things can’t be left in 2012, unfortunately)
The process of rebranding
Rebranding your business is so much more than a new logo. It’s your:
- Fonts and type families
- Colour palette
- style guide
- business values
- And most importantly, your strategic direction for the business
You can’t expect to rebrand your business and not change the direction you want to go in!
For us, we took the time to have a team meeting where we outlined where we want to see our business in the next ten years. It was a process undertaken with every member of the team, because we’re no longer a sole operator.
The Marketing GP is all about team culture and the input of our staff was crucial to changing our business’ strategic direction.
We then took the ideas our team brainstormed to create our brand – complete with a new logo, fonts, colours and strategic direction. And while our values have stayed the same, the language has changed a little bit to suit our developing business.
From there, we all collaborated, crafted, tweaked, fiddled, scrunched up, went back to the drawing board, reproduced and polished our new brand. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Is it time to rebrand your business?
Knowing when it’s time to rebrand your business can be difficult, but it’s worth considering if feedback from your customers suggests it is needed or something just doesn’t feel right for your business.
When it comes time to evolve, you need the right team of branding experts on your side to make sure it is done properly. After all, you don’t want to be doing it again in a month or two if you don’t get it right.
